The Nadler Insurance Jukebox — Help Us Pick Our Hold Music

By Zach Nadler·

We fired our hold music company.

Okay, “fired” is dramatic. We just stopped renewing. Because here’s the thing — if you’re going to be on hold with an insurance agency that’s been around since 1927, you shouldn’t have to listen to the same outdated recordings. You deserve better. We deserve better. Honestly, the smooth jazz deserves better than being associated with hold times.

So I did what any reasonable any small business owner with small children would do: I spent a late night evening making custom jingles with AI.

Why Hold Music Actually Matters

My great-grandfather Phillip started this agency in 1927. His son Alvin grew it. My dad Paul — who’s been at this for over 50 years — turned it into what it is today. And now I’m here, the 4th generation, trying to figure out how to honor almost a century of family history while also, you know, not being boring about it.

Hold music is one of those tiny details that says a lot about who you are. Generic hold music says “we bought the cheapest package.” Custom hold music that references your AI chatbot and drops your actual phone number in a hook? That says something else entirely.

It says we care about the weird little details. Which, if you think about it, is exactly what you want from your insurance agent.

The AI Angle (Yes, Really)

I used Suno — an AI music generator — to create all 10 tracks. Before you roll your eyes, let me explain why this actually works.

Every lyric in these songs is personal. The family names are real. The phone number is real. The references to Laurel Street, to San Carlos, to four generations of Nadlers — all real. AI was the instrument, but the story is ours. Think of it like autotune: the tool is new, but the voice has to be authentic or nobody’s buying it.

I wrote the prompts. I picked the genres. I made sure each track captured a different era of this agency’s life, from 1927 doo-wop to MC Hammer-inspired hip hop. Because if you’re going to span a century, your playlist should too.

The Playlist

Here are all 10 tracks. Listen to as many as you want (or all of them — they’re short). Then scroll to the bottom and vote for your top 3. The winners actually go on our phones.

This is not a hypothetical exercise. Real stakes. Real hold music. Real consequences for anyone who calls us about their homeowners policy next month.

1. Nadler Insurance 80s Arena Rock

Journey-inspired, lighters-in-the-air, don’t-stop-believin’ vibes. If this doesn’t make you feel feelings about your insurance coverage, I can’t help you.

2. Nadler Time

MC Hammer, “Can’t Touch This” energy. Oakland roots meet Nadler swagger. This one is objectively the most fun to play at full volume in your car. I’ve tested this.

3. Nadler — Huey Lewis Inspo

Bay Area pop rock, because if you’re an insurance agency in San Carlos, you’re legally required to pay tribute to Huey Lewis. (I don’t make the rules. Actually, I do. I’m the CIO.)

4. Nadler 650-508-8000

Yes, our phone number is in the hook. Is it catchy? Unreasonably so. Will you be humming it in the shower? I take no responsibility.

5. Nadler Answers

Heartland rock, Tom Petty spirit, full-send Americana. This one hits different if you’ve ever had an insurance question at 4:55 PM on a Friday and someone actually picked up.

6. Nadler’s Wing

Motown soul. Tambourine hits. The kind of warmth that makes you want to call your insurance agent just to chat. (Please don’t actually do that. Or do. We’re friendly.)

7. Ask Phillip

Named after our AI chatbot (who’s named after my great-grandfather — full circle). Modern edge with a nod to the fact that yes, we built an AI assistant and yes, we named it after the founder.

8. Nadler Insurance Torch

The one that started it all. Doo-wop harmonies, finger snaps, and a vibe that sounds like it could have played in Phillip Nadler’s office in 1927. Heritage in three-part harmony.

9. Nadler Insurance — Bay Area Tribute

Straight from San Carlos to the Bay. This one’s a love letter to the Peninsula — local roots, local pride, and coverage that knows your neighborhood as well as you do.

10. San Carlos Coverage — Indie Pop

Feel-good coffee shop vibes for the family agency on Laurel Street. This one sounds like a Sunday morning in San Carlos — warm, easy, and just a little proud of where we come from.

Vote for Your Top 3

This is the real deal. The top 3 vote-getters become our actual hold music rotation. You have a say in what plays the next time you call us about adding a driver to your auto policy.

What Happens Next

The winning tracks go on our phones. That part’s straightforward.

The part I haven’t mentioned yet: my dad doesn’t know about any of this. Paul Nadler — 50+ years in the business, third generation, the guy whose name is literally in half these lyrics — has not heard a single track. His reaction is going to be its own blog post. And honestly, it might be the best content I’ve ever created.

Stay tuned.
