Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a P&C license to apply?
Yes, an active California Property & Casualty license is required for all of our roles. We focus exclusively on P&C insurance.
Do you offer remote or hybrid roles?
Yes — our team today is a mix. Some members work hybrid out of our San Carlos office (2-3 days per week), and others are fully remote across California and beyond, working Pacific Time hours. When a role opens, the listing spells out the specific arrangement.
What does 'agency-billed' vs. 'direct-billed' mean?
Agency-billed means our agency handles premium collection and payment to carriers. Direct-billed means the carrier bills the client directly. We have separate account management teams for each billing type.
What management system do you use?
We use Applied Epic for policy management, along with Wunderite for digital applications and other modern tools. We're always investing in workflows that make your job easier.
Will I be doing data entry and certificate processing?
No. We have a dedicated backend support team that handles policy entry into Applied Epic and the majority of certificate completions. Your time is spent client-facing — building relationships, solving coverage problems, and growing the book.
What's the team size?
We're intentionally lean. You'll work directly with leadership — not through layers of middle management. That means more ownership, more visibility, and more impact.
What's the salary for a commercial lines account manager in the Bay Area?
Bay Area commercial lines account manager salaries typically range from $75,000 to $130,000 depending on experience, book complexity, and work arrangement. At Nadler, our base salary ranges are competitive with Bay Area market rates, and you also earn commission on all new business you write — so your total compensation grows with your effort.
Why work at an independent agency instead of a large brokerage?
At an independent agency like Nadler, you work directly with leadership — not through four layers of management. Your ideas actually ship, you have real ownership of your book, and you're not a number. You also get carrier access without the corporate bureaucracy. Many of our candidates come from agencies that were recently acquired and miss the independent feel.
What does a commercial lines account manager do day to day?
As a CL account manager, your day is spent client-facing: managing renewals, handling endorsements, identifying coverage gaps, and cross-selling additional lines. At Nadler, you won't do data entry — we have a dedicated backend support team that handles policy entry into Applied Epic and certificate processing, so your time stays focused on relationships and revenue.
Do you offer remote positions for insurance professionals?
Yes — several of our current team members work fully remote. Remote roles require an active California P&C license and availability during Pacific Time business hours. We invest in tools like Applied Epic, Wunderite, and AI-powered workflows so remote team members are fully equipped from day one.
