    Are you scheduling the right items on your homeowners/renters Insurance policy

    With Valentines Day just around the corner we thought it was important to create a short video (click picture above) and blog to discuss the importance of scheduling jewelery, high value electronics, collectibles, musical equiptment. It is fairly easy and inexpensive to add these items to an existing policy, all we will need is proof of purchase, photo(s) of item and a recent appraisal stating the insured value. Once an item is scheduled it is covered if it is ever lost or damanged without having to pay a deductible. Every item will vary in cost to schedule but a good rule of thumb is roughly $15 per $1000 of value.

    New California Traffic Fines Effective January 2012

    Okay, we are a few weeks into the new year & I thought it would be a good idea to remind everyone of all the new and updated traffic fines for California. Make sure you don’t talk on the cell phone while driving down the 101 cause thats a $148 fine or if your caught texting its $256!

    So without further audeiu here are some expensive habits to avoid while driving your car in the San Francisco Bay Area or anywhere in California for that matter:

    Effective immediately, if  you do not stop at the red light, be ready to pay $436 in fines or

    if you  pass a school bus with flashing red signals, you will be charged $616.

     Just for your info, the next time you park in the handicapped zone, even  for a minute, you will be looking at almost $1000 in parking tickets.


                
     Traffic Ticket Fines (Effective 01/06/2012)

     VC 14600(A)     $214         Failure to notify DMV of address change within 10 days
     Note: The fine may be reduced with valid proof of correction.

     

    VC 16028(A)    $796         Failure to provide evidence of financial responsibility (insurance)
     Note: This fine may be reduced with proof of insurance on or after the violation date.

    $436         Failure to stop at a red signal.

     

     VC 22349           $214        Unsafe speed,  1 to 15 miles over the limit.

    Safety Tips for hauling items on the roof of your car: This past weekend my brother, Josh & his fiancé were on their way to their wedding rehearsal when a Christmas tree fell off the back of a car causing them to be apart of a 5-car pileup on the 101 North (near the San Francisco International Airport). Luckily nobody was badly injured (although his car was totaled) and all parties had insurance but I felt that it was important to discuss some safety tips for fastening items to the roof a car, especially when driving on the freeway.
